I missed yesterday. I almost missed today too. Its been so hot and our a/c isn't working so I'm not motivated to do much of anything. I knew I couldn't miss two days in a row. Here is day 102

Today you get two pictures because I like them both lol. Most of the time even if I like two I will pick one that I like better. Today I just gave it and posted both :)

I initially wasn't going to use this one. But then I realized (with a reminder from my sweet hubby) that if art doesn't provoke emotion it is boring. Even if that emotion is fear, panic etc. So I chose to use this one.

I got my hair done today and I love it. You can't really see it well in this picture but it is blond with purple chunks. I love the look of this picture.

Today is in honor of the upcoming 4th of July Holiday. I probably should have held off on this and done it on the actual holiday but this just means I have to come up with another patriotic one for the 4th. :)

I can honestly say when I started this project I never thought I'd one day be in the shower in my bathing suit taking a self portrait. This one was a littler harder to take because I couldn't get out and check my work as I went along. I couldn't have done it without my amazing hubby helping me out. 

I love the movement from the water and the contrast between light and dark. This one was fun (but weird to take) lol

Yep I missed another day. It was a long day yesterday and I should have done the picture earlier in the day.

Here is today's picture. It wasn't how I originally planned but did you know that trying to make a mummy out of toilet paper is really awkward and doesn't work very well at all. So I switched to some left over sterile packing strips from when I had my twins (over 5 years ago) lol. See there is a benefit in hording things  ;)

For the record they were unused and one pack was even still sterile.

On our front porch we have it partially covered and in the morning it creates these awesome shadows. I knew I wanted to do something with them today. This turned out different than I expected but I love the results anyway. 

Day 93 (-6 days)

Today is technically day 93 but I calculated it out and I've missed 6 days of my challenge so it's really only day 87. I'm going to keep track and add them on at the end so I still get a full 365 days. 

Today I learned a new technique. This photo was taken in my living room. With the living room light on. With out using a backdrop. I only used the flash to black out the back ground and light the scene. 

I really like the way it turned out and I'm excited to use this technique in my regular photoshoots. 

That's one of the great things about this challenge. I am learning so many new techniques and I get to test them on myself first.

This is a double exposure. Just like in the old days of film when you could double expose a picture you can still do it in digital it just takes a little more patience lol (and a steady finger as you have to hold down the shutter button through the whole thing)

My seven year old helped me with this one. We did one of him first to practice the technique.

This is the first time I've missed two days in a row. I had a really long weekend. I had the opportunity to take pictures at a wedding yesterday. It was so much fun but it was long and I was so tired. I got sunburned but I think I do at every wedding lol.

I wanted to do something a little different this time. I had some fun with this one in photoshop. I think I'll be doing more work in photoshop coming up. I know I could do this way better.But I still love how it turned out.

This reminds me of a wedding photo. (probably because of the veil lol) Although I'm guessing most brides wouldn't take this picture with wet hair. Oh well :) I still like it

We spent most of the weekend repainting our tv room. I love the color so much I decided to use it as a background.  I really like this picture. I took a lot of pictures tonight because I was having trouble getting it in complete focus. I didn't want my eyes to be out of focus so with a little(lot) of trial and error I got it :-)

This is actually for yesterday. I didn't get a chance to take one yesterday because we spent most of the day repainting our living room then we went over to some friend's house. 

I was washing my hands and looked down to see my reflection. I though hey that could be a cool picture. I had a little trouble getting the picture because I couldn't get the camera to focus in the right spot. I had a little help from my 7 year old.
Instead of 1 reflection I ended up with 4 which is even cooler! :)

Some days I have no creativity when it comes to this project and then some days it just hits me as to what I am going to do. Today was one of those days that just hit me and it was so much fun. It freaked my kids out a little but maybe that was the best part lol. 

This has to be one of my favorite pictures so far.

I did not want to do my picture today. In fact I tried to talk myself out of it most of the evening but I knew if I did I would only be betraying myself. This is a commitment to me and a challenge to myself. 

Tonight I gave myself 12 frames. That was it. That included the 2 frames to test the light and my position. Surprisingly this is picture #3 :) 

Maybe I am getting the hang of this after all. lol

This shot was frustrating. I didn't really have a plan or any idea what I was gonna do. I just played around with lighting and poses. This one was just an accidental shot but I liked it best.

I'm still practicing with off camera flash and getting the lighting right. I'm getting better but now I have to work on softening the light. I use an umbrella but it still seems harsh. I don't want to see EVERY pore and blemish on my face and I doubt anyone else does either lol. 

Well as they say - practice makes perfect right? :)
